Using your surroundings: street self defense

Street self defense comprises all of the techniques that you might call dirty or cheap elsewhere. However, in self defense, there is no such thing as dirty or cheap. It's all about you against your attacker and doing everything you can to win. street self defense tactics might seem like cheating in a fair fight, but when someone attacks you with a weapon or in a group, the concept of "fair fight" is gets thrown out the window.

In street self defense, you have to always be aware of your surroundings. Use whatever you can get your hands on because everything around you is a potential weapon. You might not always be carrying your stun gun or pepper spray. When in an extreme situation, you have to use extreme methods.

Everything from your belt to your cellular phone can be considered a potential weapon. Belts can be used as a whip, especially with a buckle, while a cell phone can be used like a stone by throwing it at your attacker. You can use perfumes in place of pepper spray to blind the assailant, throw coins, and even use pens to stab the attacker. Street self defense means using everyday items to your advantage.

Biting and scratching, or even attacking a male in the groin might be considered cheating anywhere else, but in a life or death situation, anything goes. When in these situations, don't think about anything else other than getting out of there alive.
