Self defense videos are a great way to learn how to defend yourself at home. If you are constricted by schedules and don't have enough time to take Self Defense Classes, or just want to save money, self defense videos are a great way to learn how to defend yourself. However there are also disadvantages of learning self defense through videos. Here we will try to break down the pros and cons of self defense videos.

Pros:

* Flexibility with respect to your schedule and length of the session. * Comfort of learning at home. * Detailed instructions from a proven professional. * Cheap.

Cons:

* Impersonal training from a video. * No hands on practice with a real person. * Nobody to ask questions if you have trouble understanding anything.

To put it simply, the pros and cons seem to balance each other out. It all depends on how well you learn from just watching and how much you're willing to invest in learning self defense tactics. If you are pressed for time and would rather learn in the comfort of your own home, then self defense videos as well as books are a great way to learn techniques. However, it always helps to have hands on training and practice so that your body gets used to the movements and you get used to becoming more alert and reactive to situations.

If you already have experience with self defense and just want to learn new moves, then self defense videos should be a great way to extend your repertoire of techniques. However, for beginners I would recommend that you take some self defense classes before you rely on self defense videos for instruction.
